how hot is it going to get?

i have begun my complaining about the heat already. it would be nice if we ever had a spring but once the pool guy comes on monday my troubles will be over.

this week we survived our first round of iep meetings. they seem to agree that both boys need services--duh. alex topped out one of the tests at 17months. he will be 5 in august. nick was slightly better and averaged out at the three year old level. he just turned 6. (see incredibly cute b'day pics). they think alex will be best served in an intergrated kindergarten class for 21/2 hours a day. what the hell? apparently only the "really" disabled kids get full day. i understand that compared to some of the kids they have mine are ready for scholarships to harvard, but i don't really think the fact that they can walk and talk should be held against them. i have a great idea, provide appropriate services for all the kids. radical leftist parental babbling.

nicks went a little better. they agree that he should repeat special kindergarten. they are just not able to guarentee a full day at this juncture. why the hell not? but as the boss pointed out they weren't refusing outright just yet. i am a big fan of preemptive anger so i am getting geared up for the refusal. that way i can be prepared or happily surprised.

i did have an unusually emotional moment when they asked what my "educational goals" were for nick. i said that of course i wanted him to keep moving forward academically and that he would in any decent program but my main concern was that he would not be the weird kid. and kids who are in pullups and act like they are three would be the weird kid in first grade. and then i almost started to cry. i just remember being tortured on a daily basis in school and i didn't crap my pants. i would be thrilled with happy not so bright kids who had friends. and if i have anything to say about it we will.

it took everything i had not to say "Do you have a list of the private schools in B. that would have full day programs for the boys?" (that they would be obligated to pay for) bwahhhhhhh

we had a little saying when i worked at camp "don't fuck with the fucked". apparently they don't know how fucked i am.
