i sorta knew this

You Belong in 1973
1973

If you scored...
1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!
1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.
1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!
1980 - 1989: Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.
1990 - 1999: With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good!

What Year Do You Belong In?

big thumbs up to rogueslayer for finding this site.

i am a freak, who knew?

You Are 40% Normal
(Somewhat Normal)

While some of your behavior is quite normal...
Other things you do are downright strange
You've got a little of your freak going on
But you mostly keep your weirdness to yourself

How Normal Are You?

this made me laugh.

guardedly optimistic

Ok, i am totally lying. i am beyond thrilled and don't care who knows it. we are in the final process of being approved for two brothers. their social worker is talking to our social worker and i am waiting on pins and needles. because(see social worker post) things have not exactly gone smoothly so far.

although i got a good omen this morning. my boss(see previous posts) decided that she and the new au pair could handle j's doctor appt. by THEMSELVES. this is only because one of the doctors cancelled, so now they only need to see one doctor. granted they would have seen both of them in the same office, but somehow this seems doable for her now. i did think 3 grownups for one child's appt. was overkill but who the hell am i?

so, people who believe in omens would have to agree that is a good sign. the less she needs me the more time i have for other things, like MY LIFE.

hopefully more to come.

on a lighter note, my boss

it has taken me nearly two weeks to calm myself enough to post this. but now comparing it to the last one, i realize how silly this was.

on the friday before february vacation, j. told me that i was very rude because i left a container of chicken wings in their refridgerator. it isn't my refridge, it is hers and her mother's. and i should take my things home with me.

now, a little background. otherwise called the great turkey leg caper. a year ago this past thanksgiving my boss cooked a turkey. and the wed. after thanksgiving i had to stay late because she had a party to go to. since i had been there all day i decided that i would risk food poisoning and eat a turkey leg. nearly a week after thanksgiving with 3/4 of the turkey left, i ate one turkey leg.

when my boss got home i casually mentioned how good the turkey was and what did she do to make it like that. (i have never cooked a good turkey in my life) she kinda screwed up her face and said that she guesses it is ok because it already happened, but from now on i should ask if i want to eat any of their food. been working for her for 3 years at this point, ate one turkey leg while doing her a favor and staying late.

by the time i got home i was fuming. and i fired off an email stating that i couldn't believe she was serious, in my 25 years of babysitting i have never not been allowed to eat while i was sitting. in fact, a lot of people have asked me what i liked to snack on so they would be sure to have it when i came over. blah blah blah

she wrote back that when she buys food it is only for 2 people, not 5 and she needs to know that if something is needed for dinner it is going to be there. blah blah blah

so, that is the only reason i had a food container in her fridge last week. BECAUSE I AM NOT ALLOWED TO EAT THEIR FOOD.

but the part that kills me, is she obviously discussed this with j. WHO IS 7. not an adult. so i was shamed by a little child. because my boss is a freak.

generally freaky people

There have been too many freaks lately to post individually about each one. and the way the news is, i don't really have enough info. although maybe i have too much info. you decide.

1. yet another teacher having sex with one of her students. this has almost ceased to freak me out, it has just been happening too much lately. or maybe it is just being reported more, or people have become such freaks that they don't bother hiding it anymore. anyway, they were caught steaming up the windows of the teacher's car, WITH HER BABY IN THE BACK SEAT. YUP, IN A SEATBELT IN THE BACK SEAT. i know that i am becoming immune to this stuff because what really bothered me was the kid wasn't in a car seat. contact me if you want to kick in for the kid's therapy bills.

2. yet another married christian homeschooling pair of freaks from florida. 5 out of 7 of their adopted kids-starved, tortured and abused for years. do these people have no neighbors? how loud do you think kids scream when you electrocute them, or rip out their toenails?

3. a mother who wanted to party on her birthday, couldn't find a sitter, and shut her 7 year old in the trunk of her car while she was in the bar for 5 hours. but hey, he had a pillow and blanket so what is the commotion about.

etc. etc. etc.

i am sure that this wouldn't be my current obsession if we weren't coming up on two years since i inquired about adoption from my state. i feel mocked and hurt everytime i read about one of these cases. or when someone preaches the sanctity of heterosexual christian marriage. in almost all these abuse or murder cases that is who is doing the abusing or murdering. there was one story i can remember about a lesbian couple, and i think they are just as big freaks as the others. there just seems to be no end to the other stories.
